                    French Green Clay Face Mask

                    This super moisturising, creamy face mask, is made with French green clay and grape seed oil.  It is easy to make and glides on to the skin so easily and effortlessly.   

                    French green clay has an exceptional mineral content making it a perfect ingredient in this face mask.  It easily absorbs impurities in the skin, leaving it feeling fresh, smooth and glowing. You can substitute the green clay for Australian White Clay if you prefer a gentler mask suitable for sensitive skin. Leave on for a few minutes, then wash off with cold water.  Apply your moisturiser soon after.

                    We chose grapeseed oil as our carrier oil due to its wonderful emollient properties. It is easily absorbed into the skin and helps to retain skin moisture and repair damage. 

                    Please always do a test patch to determine if this preparation is suitable for your own skin type.  Any cosmetic may cause irritation on sensitive skin.

                    Equipment:

                    small pot for the stove
                    small heat proof container
                    accurate kitchen or jewelers scales
                    long handled spoon
                    This recipe produces around 20 gms of product


                    Ingredients:

                    Phase A:
                    9.5 gms Grapeseed oil
                    0.5 gms BTMS
                    Phase B:



                    Directions:

                    Place a small, wide mouth pot on the stove and bring around 5 cm of water to a simmer.
                    Weigh out your phase A ingredients in a small, heat proof container.
                    Place this carefully inside your double boiler and heat your phase A ingredients, stirring gently until they have all melted and combined.
                    Once completely melted, add your phase B, green clay,  to the melted oils and stir gently until the clay has fully dissolved and incorporated into the oils.  Break up any small lumps with the back of the spoon.
                    Remove from the water bath and carefully pour into your prepared tin.

                    A little goes a long way in this recipe, so you will get a couple of uses on your face from such a small amount.  If you want to produce on a greater scale to sell or as gifts see below for up-scaled quantities.

                    To up-scale your recipe to produce around 200gms of product see below
                    Phase A:
                    95 gms Grapeseed oil
                    5 gms BTMS
                    20 gms Emulsifying Wax NF
                    Phase B:
                    80 gms French Green Clay

                    Grapeseed oil can be substituted with any good carrier oil - Apricot Kernel Oil, Avocado Oil, Squalane Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Virgin Hemp Seed Oil, Camellia Oil or Rice Bran Oil

                     

                    You can also blend clays with vegetable glycerine to create hydrating pastes or masks that apply more smoothly to the skin.
