Who says glam has to be complicated? If you love clean beauty, simple formulas, and custom colours that are as unique as you are, this 3-ingredient DIY eyeshadow recipe is a must-try.
With just a pinch of mica, a dash of isopropyl alcohol, and a few silky drops of nourishing oil, youβll be mixing up your own creamy, custom pigment in no time. Whether youβre creating a dreamy shimmer for yourself or building handmade gifts for friends, this beginner-friendly project is the perfect entry point into natural makeup making.
ΒΌ teaspoon mica powder (your chosen shade, the skyβs the limit!)
A few drops of isopropyl alcohol
A few drops of jojoba oil, sweet almond oil or evening primrose oil
A small container to hold your eyeshadow
(We recommend our 14g Aluminium Screw Top tins or Clear Lip Balm Pots)
Start with the sparkle:
Add your mica powder directly into the container youβll be using for storage.
Mix in the magic:
Add isopropyl alcohol one drop at a time just enough to suspend the powder. Stir gently until it forms a smooth slurry.
Blend with beauty oils:
Drop in your chosen carrier oil gradually, stirring between each addition, until the mixture becomes creamy and smooth. Youβll know youβve nailed the texture when it begins to gently separate.
Let it breathe:
Leave the mixture to rest for 20 minutes. This allows excess alcohol to rise to the top. Use a tissue or cotton swab to gently absorb any alcohol sitting on the surface.
Dry and set:
Let the eyeshadow air-dry uncovered for at least 5 hours. Once fully dry, pop the lid on and voilΓ , your handmade eyeshadow is ready to wear!
Use multiple mica shades to create custom colour blends.
For a bolder pigment, simply add more mica.
Want a shimmer balm? Add a touch more oil for a glossier finish.
No preservatives, no nasties. Just three ingredients you can feel good about.
Customisable. From bold metallics to soft natural hues, you're the artist.
Fun to make. A creative project that looks as good on your vanity as it does on your skin.
