Instructions for your Large Candle Making Kit

PLEASE NOTE THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE GENERIC FOR CANDLE MAKING AND DO NOT NECESSARILY REFLECT WHAT IS IN THE KIT AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE.  CORRECT INSTRUCTIONS ARE INCLUDED WITH THE KITS!

Your kit contains:

The following instructions can be applied to any jar or tea light you want to use. To start using your candle kit decide what you want to make first and place the jar or tea light on a clean surface protected from spillages.

To begin the instructions we will start with a medium Monaco jar.

Step-by-Step: Making a Medium Monaco Jar Candle

1. Prepare Your Workspace

Place your jar or tealight on a clean, stable surface protected from spills.

2. Set the Wick

• Attach a Stickum to the base of an ACS 6.7 wick.

• Stick the wick to the centre of your jar.

• Thread the wick through a wick bar holder, resting it across the jar.

• Gently pull the wick taut into the notch to hold it centred.

3. Melt the Wax

• Fill a large pot halfway with water and bring to a simmer – this is your double boiler.

• Weigh out 165g of GW 464 soy wax in your aluminium pouring pot (ideal for the medium Monaco jar).

• Place the pouring pot into the simmering water and begin melting the wax.

• Clip the thermometer to the pot to monitor the temperature.

4. Add Colour

• While the wax melts, shave your dye block into the pot.

• Stir gently to dissolve the colour evenly.

• Test colour by dropping a bit of wax on white paper. Add more dye if needed.

5. Add Fragrance

• Once wax reaches 80°C, turn off the heat.

• Measure 13ml of fragrance oil (for 8% of 165g wax).

• Stir it gently into the melted wax.

6. Pour the Wax

• Let the wax cool to 65–70°C.

• Carefully pour the wax into your prepared jar.

• Leave to cool and set undisturbed.

7. Finishing Touches

• Once fully set, remove the wick holder.

• Allow the candle to cure for at least 24 hours before lighting.

• If gifting or selling, apply a warning label under the jar.

The instructions are the same for all items in your kit. The only difference being the size of wick you use and the amount of wax and fragrance you need to measure out.

If you are making more than one candle with the same fragrance then add all of the ingredient amounts together. Keep a calculator handy and a pen and paper.
