Bath Crayons

Come on and get the kids' hands on skills running these school holidays by making bath crayons! You read that right, these crayons are a fantastic way to get the kids into crafting, the best bit? You can use these crayons in the bath to wash up after!

What You'll Need

This project is such a fun and simple activity!

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Plan Your Colours
Decide how many crayons you want to make—why not one for every colour of the rainbow? Each lip balm tube holds about 5ml of soap.

  2. Melt the Soap
Cut your melt and pour soap base into small chunks and place in a microwave-safe jug. Heat in short 30-second bursts, stirring in between until fully melted (but not boiling).

  3. Add Colour (and Scent)
Stir in a tiny amount of PC Dye for each batch—start small, as the colour is concentrated. If using fragrance, add a child-safe soap-compatible scent and stir well.

  4. Pour Into Tubes
Carefully pour the coloured soap into your lip balm tubes. Work quickly before the soap begins to set. Use a filling tray if you have one to keep everything steady.

  5. Let Them Set
Allow the tubes to cool and fully harden. Once solid, they’re ready to use!

You will end up with an array of wonderful coloured crayons for bath time, these can be used to draw fun designs on the side of the bathtub, the best bit? It's soap so it washes right off!
