How to Make a Reed Diffuser (Yes, It Really Is This Easy)

If you’re looking for a simple, low-fuss product to add to your brand, reed diffusers are a no-brainer. No heat, no curing time, no drama — just great fragrance and a very polished end result.

In fact, making a reed diffuser is one of the easiest products you can create, even if you’re just starting out.

Follow these 6 simple steps and you’ll have your own personalised reed diffuser ready to go.

Step 1: Choose Your Container

Start by selecting your reed diffuser glass. We stock a wide range of styles to suit different aesthetics — from clean and modern to classic and decorative. Your jar sets the tone, so choose one that fits your brand vibe.

Step 2: Pick Your Reeds

Next, choose your diffuser reeds.
You can go with:

Each option gives a slightly different look and diffusion style.

Step 3: Select Your Fragrance

Choose your fragrance oil — the fun part.
All of our fragrances are fully compatible with our reed diffuser base, so you can select with confidence.

Step 4: Measure Your Base

Once you’ve chosen your glass, reeds, and fragrance, it’s time to assemble.

We recommend starting with a 75/25 ratio:

First, work out 75% of your diffuser’s total capacity and pour that amount of reed base into a jug.

Example:
Our square reed diffuser glass holds 140ml
75% of 140ml = 105ml (this is your reed base)

Step 5: Add Your Fragrance

Next, calculate the remaining 25% for your fragrance oil.

You can either:

  • Work out 25% of the total capacity, or

  • Subtract the base amount from the full capacity

Example:
140ml total – 105ml base = 35ml fragrance

Add the fragrance oil to the reed base in your jug and mix thoroughly.

Step 6: Assemble Your Diffuser

Carefully pour your mixture into your chosen reed diffuser bottle, insert the reeds, and… that’s it. You’re done.

If you’re selling or transporting your diffuser, we recommend choosing a glass with a screw top.
If your chosen glass doesn’t have one, a great alternative is to supply the mixture in a sealed amber bottle (100ml or another suitable size) for your customer to pour into their diffuser at home.

Helpful Tip

If your diffuser scent isn’t as strong as you’d like, try adjusting the base-to-fragrance ratio. Just like candles, some fragrances naturally throw stronger than others, while more subtle scents may need a little tweaking.

A bit of experimenting goes a long way.
