Lead in wicks is a banned substance and is not able to be imported into this country

Lead wick statement from our supplier

June, 2014

To All Valued Customers

Due to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA), members of the candle industry must certify that all candles are in compliance with the ban on lead-cored wicks. In response to this ban we have gone back to the suppliers of our raw wick and requested a response to these claims.

Our suppliers of the following wick types have certified that the product listed below adhere to the CPSA law 16 CFR Part 1500.17(a)(13) which states that there is “…a ban on metal cored wicks containing more than 0.06 percent lead by weight in the metal and candles with such wicks but is not proposing to limit the use of metal cores that contain 0.06 percent lead or less.”:

Zinc Core (Domestic)

Paper Core (Domestic)

Cotton Core (Domestic)

ACS 600 Series (Imported)

CDN & CDN KST (Imported)

In this case, our identification labels on all boxes that leave our facility state the following:

ALL OF OUR WICKS COMPLY WITH CPSC CFR 1500.17(a)(13)
